ASP Fundamentals

by Northwest Training Systems

Paperback: 138 pages
Publisher: Northwest Training Systems
ISBN: 0967335302; Bk&CD-rom edition (May 1, 1999)

ASP Fundamentals Training Course is more than just a fundamentals training course. You will walk through 8 modules, one step at a time, building your foundation for using Microsoft's Active Server Pages on Internet Information Server 4.0. Each lab builds upon the previous one, showing you how to build simple Server Side logic, by providing database information on your web site all the way up to using your own custom ActiveX components to enhance your web sites functionality. In addition to the 2 hours of instructor led VideoCD, provided with the course, you also have direct access to the instructor through an "Ask the Instructor" forum on our web site. This course assumes knowledge of VBScript for the hands on labs. A MUST HAVE for any Web developers.

These VideoCDs play in any equipped PC's CD-ROM drive and many DVD players and are actually shot in our classroom. The all video presentation is coupled with many web-based features, including, FAQ's, support and an interactive "Ask the Instructor" area to round out the experience. You will get the student guide and must follow along, as the pace is quick. Lab exercises and on-line solutions reinforce the course content. This is as close as you can get to live instruction and is different from most CBT (Computer Based Training) in that it is "All Video. Anytime, Anywhere."

About the Author: Northwest Training Systems, Inc., parent company to TrainTV.com, offers training courses and materials worldwide. Easy to follow modules/labs and accompanying CD with video allows students to experience the closest thing to a live classroom.

Customer Reviews
A good introduction, April 15, 2000
Reviewer: A reader from Phoenix, AZ

The instructor is dry, but the labs gave a good start on ASP. Cookies module was helpful.

ASP Fundamentals - Not worth the money, April 7, 2000
Reviewer: A reader from Melbourne, Florida

This isn't even a real book. The book is actually a power point presentation taken to kinko's to be copied and bound. You might think that all the money you paid went into making a really cool learning tool (the Video CD)... but the video lessons are unprofessionally done... very generic, not helpful... All together the lessons are only 1.5 hours long, most of which could have been condensed into 30 minutes. I would not recommend this book, even as a joke!

saved time by not taking a class, January 18, 2000
Reviewer: martymazurik from Kansas City, MO

Needed to know only the basics of ASP for a product we're purchasing - didn't have time to take a class so I was able to watch this video and get a look at ASP without spending the time or money for a seminar.

Disappointed on Video Cd's, January 5, 2000
Reviewer: kerim ozbakirci from Sydney, Australia

This book is providing necessary information about the basics of Asp. I tought the video cd's coming within the book are hands on training but I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed. Cd's are not useful but they are full of unnecessary talking. Far from a tutorial. For its high price, the book doesn't worth to purchase.
